Ahead of another fun-filled Saturday with quality racing, the Weekend Winners team discussed their best bets for the Newbury feature.

The panel of Kate Tracey, Sam Boswell and Declan Rix paid special attention to Newbury’s feature event, the Boyle Sports Lockinge Stakes – which is live on Sky Sports Racing at 2.35pm.

Damysus and Zeus Olympios are challenging each other at the head of the market for this year’s renewal with four-time Group One winner Notable Speech heading the best of the remainder.

Attheraces.com’s Declan Rix…

“I’ve decided at the prices I’m going to side with Sahlan just because Francis Henri-Graffard and Mickael Barzalona can do no wrong at the minute. I think he is overpriced given his profile and the record of four-year-olds in this race recently is something to note.

“Last season he beat Rosallion when winning the Prix du Moulin and a few others in behind here too. He was far too green on his last start at the Breeders’ Cup last time and he will have learnt an awful lot from that run. As long as the ground stays quick he is a great value bet.”

Host Kate Tracey…

“I am going to make a case for More Thunder who loves winning at Newbury having won the Hungerford here last year and he is from my number one sire ‘Night Of Thunder’ who won the Lockinge. This day I thought he looked like a certain Group One winner who could certainly stay a mile.

“He is so versatile and I think he could be affective at 6f/7f & 1m and he has already won over 1m 2f. This will be the first time he will be trying a mile for the first time which could be a worry but his will to win is what I like the most out of him and he could notch his first Group One winner in his career.”

BetVictor’s Sam Boswell…

“This looks a competitive renewal, but me and Declan are going to be siding with each other’s selections here in Sahlan. I thought you could upgrade the Del Mar run given the sharp turning track that he would have never seen before.

“The ground at Newbury should be good despite how much they have watered in the build up which should suit him down to the ground. I think the price of him his a disrespectful and he’s a good each way bet for me.”
